Islay House

Erected in 1677, with subsequent additions including a wing by William Playfair, Islay House is a Grade A listed residence and one of Scotland’s grandest country houses.

Millier established proposals and obtained planning permission for the conversion of the 20 bedroom manor house into a 24 bedroom boutique hotel, including the addition of new ensuite bathrooms to all bedrooms, an upgrade to the building’s services, and enhancement of all areas to meet expectations of grandeur, comfort and luxury.

The architectural approach required careful design intervention, sensitivity to the listed fabric of the building, and celebration of its rich, vibrant history; the resultant function providing a viable future for this significant residence.
